When you start noticing ...

 ... it's everywhere.

For example, blogs are past their prime, and yet they set the stage for so much of what we see online today and they still pop up everywhere.

Today I got an email from our local coffee shop, Lucky Goat, saying I should check out their new blog.

Now, clearly it's not 100% new because there are posts from the last little bit. But then again, they are trying to generate some attention and traffic while providing some coffee education.

  1. While reading the blogs from Lucky Goat, I noticed that they incorporate advertisements into their content. Personally, I find this acceptable because the promotional links are subtly embedded and don't interrupt my reading experience. The content remains informative and enjoyable, and the advertising feels more like a gentle suggestion than a disruption.
However, my experience is quite different when watching educational videos. In some cases, the producer suddenly shifts from teaching to promoting a product, which feels jarring and breaks the flow of learning. This abrupt transition makes it hard to stay focused and can reduce the credibility of the educational content. I think there's a delicate balance to strike, if promotional content is well-integrated and clearly disclosed, it can be acceptable. But in educational contexts, the primary focus should remain on delivering value, not selling.

    1. When the content provider is selling something or benefiting from marketing, it's definitely a concern. Overt advertisement can be a real turn-off.
